Chapter 5 continues to explore questions related to exhibition genres and design, relocating them to the African continent to see how design-based genres are adapted and redefined while traveling in different postcolonial settings. Considering exhibitions in South Africa and Kenya, the chapter suggests that dynamics between ethnography and history in exhibits and related design resources play out differently in the two countries, as do visitor expectations and understandings.
