This chapter assesses the LGBTQ revolution, circa 2017, within a broader social and political context. It argues that the LGBTQ revolution is real, that it has clear enemies, and that it is far from over. The chapter examines how economic policies, technological advances, and political mobilization got us to the present moment of revolution and also of backlash. In particular, it warns that the attacks on multiple fronts by Trump supporters require an organized and sustained response if revolutionary movements for liberty and justice are to win over the forces of political repression and the reinforcement of gender hierarchies.
