The epilogue carries through the comparison of nuclear spillage zones to prison towns, emphasizing the structural connection to zones of restriction while nevertheless insisting on the impulse of people to build communal spaces for robust social life wherever they find themselves. It reminds the reader that the eventual abolition of the US prison system is not merely future-oriented and aspirational but, based on historical evidence, absolutely inevitable. It concludes with the words of an incarcerated prison abolitionist and freedom fighter.
