This introduction provides initial framing and context for the book. Specific reference is made to the connections between rhetoric and nonfiction, as well as the conception of audience. It argues that Caribbean blackness is understood through a meditation on the rhetorical art of “story|ing.” This is further understood through “transmediality” with the intersections and deliberative utilizations of multiple forms and genres—written words, photographs, and material objects. As such, the essay itself is a demonstration of Caribbean blackness in practice.
