The chapter examines how parental decisions and working-class work ethics can provide an educational and activist framework for undocumented children. Through their labor and advocacy, undocumented parents can teach their children an ethic of hard work through example. Underlying such lessons are implicit and sometimes explicit lessons about class exploitation. In addition to these working-class pedagogies of home, migrant parents teach their children how to navigate their undocumented legal status, including through advocacy.
