Interlude 2: The Inquiry Zones

With most of the multidimensional concept work complete, the second interlude explains the next phase of the handbook: engaging the three zones of inquiry. Each zone conveys its own field extent, multidimensional possibility, and ethical milieus. The scoping zone represents the overarching conceptual and social field; the connecting zone represents multidimensional project articulations; and the interacting zone represents the space of fieldwork. Each zone engages specific kinds of research questions: the scoping question, data-gathering questions, and field-based interacting questions. The data collected from interacting questions directly contribute to answering the data-gathering questions, which in turn (after field research is completed) provide an analytic and theoretical answer to the scoping question.
