This module focuses on articulating a multidimensional object (MO), a two- to three-word phrase that evokes the dynamic relationships among the project’s key concepts that keeps them together in a cogent, congruent assemblage. The MO has a dual nature: it represents the project’s ethnographic as well as theoretical focus. Overall, the MO represents the dynamic tensegrity of crosscutting concept combo(s) (Module 4) as well as the broad integrity of an effective research description (Module 5). Its job is to make perceptible the connections among project elements—from the literatures to the project description to the research questions. As a flexible tool, the MO connects the project’s conceptual multidimensionality and structural tensegrity to fieldwork design.
