Over the past four centuries, the human race has embarked on a gigantic race, both irresistible and vertiginous, whose almost cosmic character is now being measured. Where to? We will have to wait until the end to answer this question with certainty. This race will have required the manufacture of countless tools and pieces of machinery, the capture of the force inherent in matter in general, and its transformation into energy and movement. At the confluence of body and movement, matter and energy, combustion for example made its appearance, foundry metals also, as well as the world of motors, roaring parts, artificial organs, and moving machines, to these we must add imaginary activity.
