Introduction: Defining Black Girl Autopoetics
-
Published:January 2024
This content is made freely available by the publisher. It may not be redistributed or altered. All rights reserved.
The book begins by defining Black girl autopoetics as a creative praxis of self-making. Using Sylvia Wynter’s formulations of poesis and autopoiesis, the introduction offers social and historical context to Black girls’ digital content and presents Black girl autopoetics as both a theory that emerges from the study of Black girlhood and a hermeneutic for apprehending Black girls’ socialities.
