The prologue opens the book with two stories of Black flight from policing in 1942 and 2015. Unlike reforms suggested in the wake of fatal police violence, the Black geographic tradition of flight offers invaluable lessons about how interconnected strategies of care and fugitivity can refuse, disrupt, and elude policing.
