What does it mean to imagine Pakistan in queer terms? How, under conditions of straightness, can desire be a mode of queer future making? What shapes might a conversation on queerness take in Pakistan? These are some of the questions that animate the introduction. With cross-cutting interests in affects of language, location, and histories, the introduction invites reflection on what meanings adhere to queer in Pakistan or what might it mean to speak from here—a *stan—where here stands in for places rendered elsewheres to queer thinking. In discussing the various chapters of the book, it illustrates how desire emerges and transacts, turns abundant and acquires political charge through queer-affective forms in writing, art, image, sex, religious belonging and political participation in the context of Pakistan.
