Chapter 5 discusses the development of Marxist theory made by Vladimir Lenin and how he clarified the meaning of socialism. Lenin’s theory of imperialism and the capitalist state are analyzed, as well as his leadership during the early years of the workers’ state in Russia amid the civil war. Lenin’s last struggle with Stalin and the rising Stalinist bureaucracy is also detailed.
