Track Two: “News of My Death, Greatly Exaggerated”, Quoth the Record

Track two introduces the Vinyl Freak column, explaining the motivation for writing the monthly entries for the jazz magazine and considering the demise and then unexpected return of vinyl records in the waning era of CDs, with special consideration given to the materiality of the vinyl LP, as opposed to the ephemerality of digital formats. A short personal recounting of the author’s involvement in reissuing vinyl on CD follows, ending with a section in which nine explanations of the resurgence of vinyl are offered.
