The conclusion explores the links between genomic science and ideas of progress (toward racial democracy, health, freedom) and then looks at ideas about Latin America as a racial exception and as a useful resource for genomic science and its progressive agenda. It then argues that in fact genomic science in Latin American plays a conservative role, supporting the status quo in its depictions of racial diversity.
