As in Africa, Cuban soldiers have fought in several Latin American and Caribbean countries. Most of these efforts failed; a few succeeded, and subsequent decades have seen the development of ongoing Cuban influences. Numbers of Latin American revolutionaries also trained in Cuba throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. In chapter 6, the histories are told from several points of view. Some attention is paid to Che Guevara’s struggle in Bolivia and whether or not it was sponsored by Cuba or only by Guevara himself.
