Chapter 2 continues the arguments put forth in chapter 1. It moves from poetry to novels, film, the visual arts (particularly the posters of the 1970s and 1980s), the cultural struggle against Stalinism, and the Cuban Revolution’s periods of repression and regained expressive freedom. It introduces the country’s global generosity in providing soldiers, health care, disaster relief, and adult literacy.
