The introduction situates critical ethnic studies as a collective attempt to build on the possibilities enlivened by the historical work of ethnic studies. The contributors suggest a notion of critical ethnic studies that is premised on a convivial sense of urgent participation, intellectual vulnerability, and scholarly audacity. The introduction is an invitation to an always unfolding critical inquiry into the objects, methods, presuppositions, and analytics of ethnic studies.
