This chapter introduces the philosophical work of Catherine Malabou and her signature concept of plasticity—the giving, receiving and exploding of form—as a new and restless ontology, one that characterizes for her the possibilities of philosophy, the metamorphic truths of our bodies and our subjectivities, and the political potentials of our time. The central questions posed by this chapter—and the many authors of this book—concern what intellectual directions Malabou’s thinking about change, metamorphosis, and destructive plasticity can provide in our attempts to radically rethink and disrupt the inequities of contemporary economic, racial, political, psychological, legal and national forms of power.
