This chapter describes how, faced with death, Bruno asks to be transferred to another prison where he is among friends. It then describes how he chooses to confront the leadership of the Comando Vermelho to clear his name before he is released. The chapter also discusses the impact of the conflict between factions on favela communities on the outside and how, in recent years, the authorities in Rio have opted to change the way they combat organized crime by occupying and securing urban territory through establishing Police Pacifying Units, or Unidades de Polícia Pacificadora.
