Every outgoing journey is really an odyssey into our inner self. Even in the midst of the journey, we are already creating a narrative of ourselves on the road. Our movements are registered in our mnemonic database and subsequently transmuted into storytelling. This chapter reflects on the relationship of memory to travel, the development and significance of travel writing as a literary genre, and the intimate connection between memory and place.
