Although there are only a handful of explicit citations in the book, this work is informed by a vast body of ethnographic literature on postsocialism produced by scholars in both North America and Europe. What follows below is a very selected list of books in English for those interested in learning more about the history of communism and the anthropology of postsocialism. I have arranged these texts alphabetically by author and by country. While by no means an exhaustive list, these books represent a small sample of the variety of English-language scholarship that has engaged with both the large and small questions in the field of transitology.
