In Jadugoda, in an area that was formerly a part of Bihar, and where the author spent a part of his boyhood, uranium mining has claimed many victims. Most of them are from India’s aboriginal population and there is little sharing of information about the dangers of radioactive waste. A large number of youths are born deformed, their bodies stunted and their minds undeveloped.
