Performances often challenge the limits of artists. But they also challenge those of their viewers. This chapter puts theorists like Althusser, Brecht, Boal, and Rancière in conversation with performers like Michel Melamed, Nao Bustamante, and Rocio Boliver to argue that performance is also a doing-to, an act in which observers become participants.
