The myth of Job presents an account of human relations to the planet and cosmos that appreciates human entanglements with a world that is neither providential nor highly predisposed to human mastery. Such an interpretation of the encounter between the “Nameless One” and Job may be highly pertinent to today and prepares the way for the engagements to follow in this study.
