The annual Norman Foerster Prize for the best essay published in American Literature in 2018 was awarded to Taylor Evans, “The Race of Machines: Blackness and Prosthetics in Early American Science Fiction” (90:3, September 2018). An honorable mention was awarded to Margaret Galvan for “‘The Lesbian Norman Rockwell’: Alison Bechdel and Queer Grassroots Networks” (90:2, June 2018). Members of the judging committee were Joseph Jonghyun Jeon (chair), University of California, Irvine; Emily Bernard, University of Vermont; and James J. Donahue, SUNY Potsdam.

We are pleased to announce that “Queer about Comics” (90:2, June 2018), edited by Darieck Scott and Ramzi Fawaz, is one of two winners of the Council of Editors of Learned Journals award for the best special issue of 2018.
